Manhasset Residence: A Harmonious Multi-Generational Haven
More than a simple multi-generational house, this expansive Manhasset residence stands as the vibrant heart of daily life for its residents: a young family of five and their grandmother. This complete residential remodel presented LGC Interiors with a clear but nuanced charter: create a warm family home suited for an active household while thoughtfully incorporating their extensive collection of cherished antique treasures.
Drawing on the calming tones of nature and Lori Miller's expertise in balancing functionality with sophisticated design, the team reimagined this five-bedroom, five-bathroom "forever house" into a cohesive space where three generations could thrive together while maintaining their individual identities.
The transformation begins in the living room, where a dramatic clerestory ceiling draws natural light deep into the home's core, illuminating an ancient lava rock coffee table that serves as both conversation piece and connection to the earth-inspired palette. Throughout the home, carefully selected furnishings from Baker Furniture complement the family's antique collection, creating a seamless bridge between past and present.
Each bedroom tells its own story—from the spring-inspired tones of the daughter's room to the serene primary suite designed for rest and rejuvenation. While each space presents distinct personalities, Lori Miller's signature approach unifies them through cohesive color palettes, natural themes, and thoughtful spatial planning that encourages both togetherness and privacy.
The kitchen and dining areas were designed with multi-generational gatherings in mind, featuring durable yet elegant materials and strategic lighting from Currey & Co. that adapts to different times of day and uses. Custom window treatments crafted from Kravet fabrics further enhance the home's warm atmosphere while providing light control and privacy.
This Manhasset project exemplifies LGC Interiors' commitment to creating spaces that honor family heritage while embracing contemporary living—proof that multi-generational homes can be both functional and beautifully designed.
