2022 Lenox Hill "A Garden of Earthly Delights!" Spring Gala Tablescape
For the 2022 Lenox Hill "A Garden of Earthly Delights!" Spring Gala, interior designer Lori Miller created a meaningful tablescape that transformed the beloved adage "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade" into a celebration of resilience, heritage, and collaborative artistry. This project became one of the most profound design experiences in LGC Interiors' portfolio, proving that great design happens when stories intersect.
The tablescape centered around textile designer Scot Meacham Wood's stunning Stavely Park Trellis fabric—a pattern with an extraordinary backstory. The intricate design was created from motifs found on antique Rose Canton dinnerware that Scot's mother collected throughout their military family's many moves across the globe. After her passing, Scot commissioned an artist to recreate the plate's motifs as a textile pattern, transforming decades of family memories into a beautiful fabric that became the foundation of the tablescape.
Working with expert collaborators including Curtain Avenue for fabrication, Replacements.com for vintage-inspired dishware, and Monica Stoller for lush floral arrangements, the team created a tablescape that operated on multiple levels. The vibrant colors and bold patterns provided immediate visual impact from across the room, while intimate details revealed themselves as guests settled in for dinner, embodying Scot's philosophy that design should reward both distant admiration and close inspection.
"This collaboration exemplifies everything I believe about meaningful design," Lori reflected. "Instead of asking 'where did you buy this?' we should be asking 'where did you find this?' and 'what's the story behind it?' Scot's fabric carried with it decades of a mother's passion for creating beautiful homes and a son's love letter to her memory. That depth of meaning elevated our entire tablescape from simply beautiful to truly significant."
The project demonstrated how thoughtful collaboration can create something greater than any individual vision, with the charitable mission of the Lenox Hill Gala adding another layer of purpose to the evening's design story.
