Bridgehampton Italian-Inspired Home Cinema at Holiday House Hamptons
Project Overview
We had the honor of transforming a first-level space at the Holiday House Hamptons 2024 Designer Showhouse held into "Bella Vista Teatro," a sophisticated Italian-inspired home theater that perfectly embodies LGC’s signature "sophisticated whimsy" design philosophy. Located in the stunning 6,000 square-foot Bridgehampton home at 4 Windy Hill Lane, this project showcased how a theater space can be both luxurious and inviting while supporting an important cause. It was open to the public from August 11 - September 8, 2024.
The Design Vision
Creating a home theater that captivates visitors required balancing visual drama with intimate comfort. Rather than designing a traditional linear movie theater, we made a circular gathering space that encourages family connection and conversation. The space needed to function as both a showcase and a realistic example of how modern families can integrate entertainment spaces into their homes.
Our goal was to transport visitors to a chic Italian atmosphere while addressing practical considerations, such as acoustics and the existing window in the room.
Italian Elegance and Thoughtful Details
The foundation of our design centers on a stunning Missoni indoor/outdoor carpet from STARK Carpet, which set the tone for the entire space with its rich patterns and luxurious feel. This collaboration with Andrea Stark proved instrumental in achieving the perfect balance of sophistication and comfort.
Complementing the carpet, exquisite Missoni pillows created visual cohesion while adding layers of texture and Italian elegance. A standout feature included the pair of Lladró Seasons collection wall sconces, which serve as functional art pieces that beautifully tied the color scheme together.
The room featured Arte's shimmering wallpaper design, adding depth and visual interest, while Koroseal acoustic paper ensures optimal sound quality for the cinematic experience. Little Greene Paint in Aquamarine 135 and Wood Ash provides the perfect backdrop, expertly applied by Green Apple Painting. Custom window treatments featuring Thibaut fabric, along with custom chairs and Roman shades crafted by Home Interiors by Anthony Giaramita, complete the sophisticated aesthetic.
Beyond visual appeal, "Bella Vista Teatro" was designed for real-world family enjoyment. The space features practical elements, including a wine refrigerator from Royal Green Appliances and a candy cart from East Coast Cabinetry, making it the perfect spot for entertaining.
Supporting an Important Cause
This project supported The Breast Cancer Research Foundation through the Holiday House Hamptons platform, which has raised significant funds for breast cancer research over its 15-year history. Founded by the inspirational Ingrid Dankner, a breast cancer survivor herself, Holiday House brings together a community of designers passionate about making a difference.
I've been proud to support Ingrid’s vital fundraising work through this event since 2018, having previously collaborated with Vanessa DeLeon on a NYC townhouse project. These events connect us with supporters, survivors, and researchers all working toward a world without breast cancer.
