Southampton Mudroom Makeover at Hamptons Designer Showcase

Project Overview

LGC Interiors brought playful sophistication to the Hamptons Designer Showhouse with a stunning bathroom and mud room combination that perfectly captured the essence of luxurious coastal living. Located in a beautifully constructed new home in Southampton, NY, this project marked interior designer Lori Miller's third year participating in this prestigious showcase, which has raised over $2 million for Stony Brook Southampton Hospital since its inception 24 years ago. This event was open to the public from July 23 - September 4, 2024.

The Design Vision

Creating a cohesive bathroom and mud room space for the Hamptons Designer Showhouse required balancing the practical needs of a coastal lifestyle with the sophisticated aesthetic. The room needed to demonstrate how functional areas can be transformed into beautiful, welcoming environments. Located right off the garage, the project presented a unique challenge as it was a hard space to navigate when entering the home. We had to carefully consider the chandelier placement to ensure both dramatic impact and functional flow through this transitional area. The design also incorporated what I playfully call my "little mechanical man" - a whimsical figure positioned in the window that served as a delightful surprise for observant guests.

Playful Design with Sophisticated Impact

The centerpiece of the bathroom design was a fabulous chandelier from Vaughan Design that immediately established the space's playful yet refined character. This dramatic lighting fixture demonstrated LGC Interiors' signature "sophisticated whimsy" approach, proving that even the most utilitarian spaces can incorporate elements of surprise and delight.

The shower area featured contrasting tile patterns from Nemo Tile that created visual interest and movement throughout the space. This bold pattern choice showcased our confidence in mixing textures and designs to create dynamic, engaging environments that invite closer inspection. All fixtures and fittings were sourced from Kohler, ensuring both aesthetic appeal and long-term functionality.

Collaborative Excellence

The project was constructed by Cavallo Builders on a picturesque acre in Southampton, just minutes from the village. This collaboration between builder and designer resulted in spaces that showcased both structural quality and design innovation, providing an ideal canvas for the participating designers’ visions.

This project exemplifies LGC Interiors' ability to transform everyday spaces into extraordinary experiences, demonstrating why we have become a sought-after designer for luxury homes throughout the Hamptons and Long Island region.
